Oddworld Inhabitants revealed – a couple of minutes ago – at Eurogamer Expo the HD remake of Abe’s Oddysee. Before jumping to early conclusions, this is not a simple HD version of the Playstation 1 version. This is a full 3D platform game (played via a 2D perspective) in which players will be able to explore the backgrounds of it.
Oddworld Inhabitants also revealed that Abe’s Oddysee HD is a reality thanks to the growth of digital distribution. The company stated that a small team can be viable thanks to the digital distribution, something that could not happen a few years ago. Not only that, but according to Oddworld Inhabitants, only 50% of the sales are coming from the retail versions of their games. That applies to both PC and – current and next generation – consoles.
Abe’s Oddysee HD is currently at pre-alpha stage and looked gorgeous. The game – even at this early stage – can be played at 60fps on the PC, and will feature new puzzles.
Abe’s Oddysee HD is planned for a September 2013 release on PC, XBLA and PSN (for both PS3 and PSVita).

Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
