Need for Speed High Stakes UE5 Fan Remake

Take a look at Need for Speed: High Stakes in Unreal Engine 5

YouTube’s ‘QuantumRez’ has shared a video, showcasing a fan remake of Need for Speed: High Stakes in Unreal Engine 5. This video is cool that will put a smile on all old-school NFS fans, so be sure to check it out.

Going into more details, this video shows off the Snowy Ridge track. QuantumRez claims that this is a complete from-scratch remake, and that he did not use any models, textures, or sound effects from the original.

Now my issue here is that from what I can see, this fan game does not take advantage of Lumen or Nanite. For instance, there are a lot of pop-in issues with the trees. The lighting is also nowhere close to what you’d expect from a project/fan game running in UE5. Then we have the textures which appear to be of low resolution.

To be honest, this feels more like a remaster than a remake. Don’t get me wrong. In a retro way, it feels cool. However, this isn’t what a modern-day remake of NFS: High Stakes would look like in Unreal Engine 5. So, don’t expect to get “wow-ed” by the visuals. Despite that, for a one-man job, it looks cool. Oh, and the driving mechanics appear to be quite great, so kudos to the artist for nailing it.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive.
