80level has posted a really detailed article about the upcoming graphical update for World of Tanks. This new update for World of Tanks will add some shading features as dynamic dirt, dynamic wetness, advanced material blending (read below) and vertex animation.
In addition, the update will introduce Stochastic Flakes. Thanks to this feature, the microfacets of the material will become visible when the roughness is high enough. The lighting system will also significantly improve.
The game’s water will also see massive improvements. The water will feature deformation particles to change water plane’s height, as well as adaptive tessellation. This tessellation technique will build up a new displaced geometry to create waves from tank hull and tracks.
All particles effects will be affected by direct and indirect light as well as their own emissive abilities. Furthermore, the game will now support deformation particles.
There is no date yet on when Wargaming will implement this new graphics engine to the full game. However, players can take a glimpse at all the new features in the 12 HD maps that came out for World Of Tanks PC on a Sandbox server.
