In an interview with GamesIndustry, IO Interactive’s CEO Hakan Abrak revealed that HITMAN has passed 7 million players. Not only that, but according to Hakan this number rises on a daily basis.
As Hakan said when asked about it:
“That number is rising daily. And these aren’t dormant players; these are highly engaged players in Hitman.”
For comparison purposes, HITMAN hit 5 million players back in August 2017. In other words, it took IO Interactive around 3 months in order to increase its playerbase by more than 2 million players.
It’s also worth noting that IO Interactive has acquired the rights of the HITMAN franchise from Square Enix, and that it has removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from it.
Last but not least, IO Interactive is already working on the next HITMAN game. As Hakan revealed a few days ago, the team is making great progress and has some exciting new features and franchise firsts. The team will reveal the next HITMAN game in 2018!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
