Modder ‘Gunship_Mark_II’ has revealed some brand new information about his MMod mod for Half Life 2. This mod aims to overhaul Half-Life 2’s graphics and gameplay, and targets a 2018 release. In order to celebrate this announcement, the modder has also released a new trailer for it.
Half Life 2 MMod V3 will be a full blown modification with brand new gameplay mechanics, AI changes, new weapons and brand new particle effects. It will also have replacements and enhancements for older stuff, like new post processing shaders and dynamic lights. Players can also expect projected muzzleflash effects, weapon re-animations and more.
According to Gunship_Mark_II, Half-Life 2: MMod V3 will feature a more immersive camera, new weapons and smarter combine soldiers. As such, the combines will be able to jump on/off ledges, shoot smg1/oicw grenades. Their aim and accuracy will also greatly improve, and normal combine soldiers can shoot combine balls.
Furthermore, players will have a choice between hitscan and pseudo physical bullets and optional smart health regeneration to offset new difficulty level. The modder also aims to add more gameplay changes later, like simple gore/dismemberment mechanics and maybe new NPCs.
From the looks of it, this may be a pretty awesome modification for Half Life 2. This mod has been under development for almost two years, so here is hoping that it will be as good as it sounds.
