Yesterday, Ubisoft released a new update for the PC version of Assassin’s Creed: Origins. As we’ve already reported, this patch introduces annoying stuttering issues on quad-core CPUs; stutters that were not present in the launch version. However, and contrary to various reports, Ubisoft has not downgraded the game’s visuals.
According to some users, the LOD has been reduced, resulting in less than ideal visuals. Since we’ve received numerous emails and comments about it, we’ve decided to compare the vanilla with this latest version. And as you will see, Ubisoft has not altered the LOD settings in any way.
All distant objects, shadows, and effects are present in Assassin’s Creed Origins 1.05. As we’ve reported in our PC Performance Analysis, Assassin’s Creed Origins uses a really aggressive LOD system. That was the case from the beginning and no, Ubisoft did not change anything.
So yeah, this report about the game’s “downgrade-ation” is false. As we’ve already proved, we are among the first ones to call out developers when they do such a thing. However, spreading rumours about such a thing just because it’s Ubisoft is… well… not cool anymore.
Below you can find some comparison screenshots. The left screenshots are from the launch version and the right screenshots are from 1.05.
