AMD discrete GPU market share increases to its highest point in the past three years

A few days ago, we reported – based on Jon Peddie Research’s quarterly discrete video card sales report for Q4 2017 – that PC gaming remains the primary driver for GPU sales. However, it appears that we missed an interesting detail about AMD’s market share. According to the report, AMD has managed to increase its market share to its highest point in the past three years.

Going into slightly more details, AMD’s discrete desktop graphics market share is up 6.5% from Q3 2017, increasing to 33.7%. On the other hand, NVIDIA’s discrete desktop graphics market share is down 6.5%, decreasing to 66.3%. NVIDIA remains the dominant company, however – and thanks to the miners – AMD has managed to increase its market share.

Kudos to AnandTech for sharing the following infographic from JPR’s report.
