inXile Entertainment has announced that it is currently working on a remaster of the first Wasteland game. Unfortunately all there is right now for this remaster, meaning that we don’t know what things inXile will improve, and whether this will be a simple remaster than those Nightdive has released for some old classic games or something a bit more than that.
We are in fact working on a remaster of the original Wasteland.

The first Wasteland was released 1988 and was a science fiction open world role-playing game. Its mechanics were based on those used in the tabletop role-playing games and the characters had various statistics (strength, intelligence, luck, speed, agility, dexterity, and charisma) that allowed them to use different skills and weapons.
Basically, it was structured like most Western RPG games that followed and it was one of the first games featuring a persistent world. Moreover, in Wasteland the NPCs at times could refuse to follow the player’s commands, something that we haven’t seen in a lot of RPGs.
As said, apart from the reveal that inXile is working on the remaster there is nothing additional to add at this point but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
