Lords of the Fallen feature 3

Dishonored 2, Lords of the Fallen, Bulletstorm, Moto Racer 4 and more run better without Denuvo

YouTube’s ‘Overlord Gaming’ has tested some more games with and without the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Overlord Gaming used six games for which the developers have removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech themselves, and used the same graphics drivers. As such, this comparison is as good as it can possibly get, though it should be noted that some games may saw a small performance increase due to additional optimization tweaks included in their patches that removed Denuvo.

Going into more details, Overlord Gaming tested Dishonored 2, Lords of the Fallen, Bulletstorm, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Moto Racer 4, RiME and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Unsurprisingly, all of the aforementioned games loaded faster when Denuvo was removed.

At this point, I should note that EIDOS Montreal and Nixxes have not removed Denuvo from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Overlord Gaming used a crack that, contrary to other cracks that simply bypass it, has completely removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from the game.

As said, all of these games loaded faster when Denuvo was removed, something that did not really surprise us. After all, this is the biggest issue with Denuvo right now (the slower loading times).

Overlord Gaming also claimed that all of these games performed faster when Denuvo was removed, and that the Denuvo-powered versions suffered from some stutters that were absent the moment this anti-tamper tech was removed. This basically means that you may get a smoother gaming experience even if your average framerate is the same in a game using Denuvo.

According to the tests, Dishonored 2 ran with an average of 56.8fps and an a minimum of 46fps with Denuvo and an average of 60.8fps and a minimum of 46fps without Denuvo. Lords of the Fallen ran with an average of 53fps and a minimum of 44fps with Denuvo and an average of 70fps and a minimum of 51fps without Denuvo. Bulletstorm ran with an average of 149.6fps and a minimum of 57fps with Denuvo and an average of 164.3fps and a minimum of 83fps without Denuvo.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 1 ran with an average of 175.8fps and a minimum of 116fps with Denuvo and an average of 181fps and a minimum of 113fps without Denuvo. Moto Racer 4 ran with an average of 176fps and a minimum of 98fps with Denuvo and an average of 180fps and a minimum of 132fps without Denuvo. RiME ran with an average of 87.6fps and a minimum of 50fps with Denuvo and an average of 98.3fps and a minimum of 64fps without Denuvo. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided ran with an average of 63.2fps and a minimum of 11fps with Denuvo and an average of 65.4fps and a minimum of 41.5fps without Denuvo.
