It appears that Rockstar Games is indeed working on the next part of the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto 6. According to the resume of an ex-Rockstar developer, Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently under development.
Bibin Michael who is an experienced 3d Game Artist stated on his resume that he worked on GTA6 (sometime between December 2017 and April 2018). Bibin Michael was also credited in Red Dead Redemption 2, so this appears to be a legit leak.
Now since the artist may edit his resume, we went ahead and captured a screenshot of it.
Unfortunately that’s the only thing we’ve got for the next Grand Theft Auto game. We’ve seen some rumours floating around about what it will be, however these rumours do not appear to be that trustworthy. Still, the good news is that GTA 6 (or GTA VI if you prefer) is under development and will be, most likely, a next-generation title.
Here is hoping that Rockstar and 2K Games won’t pull another Red Dead Redemption 2 on us, and that Grand Theft Auto 6 will release on the PC after a 6-month period from its console release (we can safely assume that it won’t be releasing alongside it). According to the latest rumours, 2K Games may announce Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PC on April 22nd, so stay tuned for more.
Kudos to GTAForums member ApolloThunder for discovering this.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
