YouTube’s ‘Nick930’ and ‘Cycu1’ have released two comparison videos between Doom Eternal and Doom 2016. These videos will give you an idea of the graphical differences between these two Doom games.
As we can see, Doom Eternal, almost all of the weapons have been re-designed. Enemies also feature some new visual details and more polygons. Not only that, but, as we’ve already said, id Software has also used high quality textures in more surfaces this time around.
Doom 2016 uses id Tech 6, whereas Doom Eternal uses id Tech 7. Still, both of these games use the Vulkan API. Thanks to this low-level API, performance is great even on older PC configurations in both of these titles.
Enjoy the comparison videos below, and be sure to also read our PC Performance Analysis!
John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
