Intel’s Ryan Shrout has just published a short demo of the Battlefield V game running on an ultra-thin prototype notebook having a Tiger Lake APU. Videocardz were the first to post this finding.
Coming to the demo, Battlefield V was running on HIGH settings, with DX11, on 1080p, and the frame rate was around 30+ FPS, which is an impressive feat for such a thin notebook.
Tiger Lake APU is the next-generation architecture featuring the “Willow Cove core” architecture and also Intel’s latest Generation 12 XE Graphics. The Battlefield 5 demo was run on the integrated Intel XE graphics which comes with Tiger Lake APU. So this is not a desktop version of Intel’s DG2 XE graphics card, but this is the first time we have seen a proper Game demo being played on INTEL’s next-gen XE graphics, which also displays the frame rate.
Currently we don’t know for sure when Intel is going to release mainstream desktop gaming GPUs based on the XE architecture. The Tiger Lake lineup has still not being fully released yet, and we have no leaks on Intel’s DG2 graphics cards as well. We seriously need a third gaming GPU competitor in the market.

To quote Ryan Shrout:
“Perks of the job! Took a prototype Tiger Lake system for a spin on Battlefield V to stretch its legs. Impressive thin and light gaming perf with Xe graphics! Early drivers/sw, but it’s the first time I’ve seen this game run like this on integrated gfx. More later this year!”
Hello, my name is NICK Richardson. I’m an avid PC and tech fan since the good old days of RIVA TNT2, and 3DFX interactive “Voodoo” gaming cards. I love playing mostly First-person shooters, and I’m a die-hard fan of this FPS genre, since the good ‘old Doom and Wolfenstein days.
MUSIC has always been my passion/roots, but I started gaming “casually” when I was young on Nvidia’s GeForce3 series of cards. I’m by no means an avid or a hardcore gamer though, but I just love stuff related to the PC, Games, and technology in general. I’ve been involved with many indie Metal bands worldwide, and have helped them promote their albums in record labels. I’m a very broad-minded down to earth guy. MUSIC is my inner expression, and soul.
