Half-Life and James Bond fans, here is something cool for you today. Modding team ‘Eagle One’ is currently working on a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 James Bond game, Goldeneye 007, in Half-Life Alyx.
The team has re-created two maps from Goldeneye 007 in Half-Life Alyx, and plans to release more in the future. In this Goldeneye N64 mod for Half-Life Alyx, players will experience a “nostalgic breakthrough in re-telling a classic through sandbox mechanics that give players a unique combat experience as they are guided through a story crafted to help Alyx accomplish each objective.”
According to the team, the mod features dynamic AI. However, Eagle One has used the Combine from the Half-Life games. Unfortunately, the team has not included any enemies from the original Goldeneye game. So yeah, that may dishearten some players.
But anyway, this Goldeneye mod for Half-Life Alyx will also allow players to approach objectives via multiple ways. Thus, it will give the freedom to play a unique style that will keep them coming back for more.
You can download the first two maps for this mod from here.
Speaking of Goldeneye 007, know that another indie team is currently working on a full remake in Unreal Engine 4. This team is recreating everything from scratch, so it will likely not receive any C&D letter.
Have fun!
