AMD claims better single-thread performance than Intel’s high-end i9 10900K, first-party benchmarks

AMD has finally announced its new AMD Ryzen 5XXX series CPUs. During its presentation, AMD shared the first gaming benchmarks for its high-end model that targets PC gamers, the AMD Ryzen 5900X. And, according to the red team, the new AMD Ryzen CPUs offer the best single-thread performance in PC games.

AMD benchmarked ten games at 1080p. As we’ve said numerous times, tech sites and companies should test their CPUs at really low resolutions. And, contrary to earlier first-party benchmarks, AMD has finally provided “proper” CPU gaming benchmarks. Now the reason I’m bringing this is because AMD was showcasing the previous AMD Ryzen CPUs at 1440p and 4K.

It’s also really cool that AMD included Far Cry New Dawn, a game that relies heavily on CPU single-thread performance. Again, this is something we highlighted in our PC Performance Analysis.

According to AMD’s benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X is around 29% faster than the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. AMD’s upcoming CPU will also beat Intel’s best high-end gaming CPU, the Intel i9 10900K.

AMD will release its Zen 3 CPUs on November 5th!
