Modder ‘LukeRoss’ has released an amazing VR mod for Horizon Zero Dawn. This mod also introduces a first-person camera viewpoint, letting you experience this game in a completely different way.
The bad news here is that this mod is currently in beta phase, and only available to LukeRoss’ Patreon members. In other words, this VR mod is behind a Patreon wall. It sucks but let’s hope that the modder will release for free its final version.
Now I don’t want to be pessimistic, however, I don’t expect the modder to ever release a “final” version of this mod. The reason I’m saying this is because his VR Mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 is still in Early Access. We first reported on the Red Dead Redemption 2 VR Mod in May 2021. And now, after seven months, the mod is not finished and the modder is working on VR mods for other games.
Don’t get me wrong, the modder should be paid for his work. After all, both Rockstar and Guerrilla Games never had any VR plans for these two games. These VR mods may also be his basic income, and someone has to pay the bills. I totally get it. It’s just sad that there won’t be a free version so that more gamers can experience it.
But anyway, R.E.A.L. VR supports – and should work correctly with – all major headsets currently on the market. It can render to the Oculus runtime, to SteamVR, and to OpenXR.
You can support LukeRoss via his Patreon.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
