The Open Beta phase for Diablo 4 is over and according to its files, Blizzard’s hack n slash RPG supports DirectStorage on PC. This is the second triple-A game that supports DirectStorage on PC (the first one is Forspoken).
From what we can see, Diablo 4 uses DirectStorage 1.0. In other words, it doesn’t take advantage of GPU decompression. After all, this feature is only available in DirectStorage 1.1.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any additional details about DirectStorage. However, it’s worth noting that the game was stutter-free during its Open Beta phase. It’s also worth noting that for its Max Textures, the game required a lot of VRAM.
As we’ve reported, the NVIDIA RTX4090 could run Diablo 4 with 40-50fps at Native 8K/Max Settings. Furthermore, its release version will support DLSS 3. Not only that, but Blizzard plans to add some Ray Tracing effects via a post-launch update.
Blizzard will release Diablo 4 on June 6th. The game will be anĀ always-online game, and will not offer an offline mode. It will also have cosmetic micro-transactions.
Stay tuned for more!
