Diablo 4’s Server Slam is currently underway and supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 tech. Thus, we’ve decided to test it and share our impressions. Unfortunately for all AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, though, the game has major stuttering issues when DLSS 3 is enabled.
As usual, for our tests, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 531.79 driver.
Below you can find a video that showcases these stuttering issues. The best way to replicate it is by displaying the game’s map. With DLSS 3 enabled, you can clearly see the stutters that occur.
These stutters can also happen during gameplay, as showcased in the following screenshot.
For those wondering, this is the exact same issue that plagued Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Next-Gen. And while NVIDIA told us that they were able to identify what was causing these stutters, they have not addressed it in either of these two games.
We’ve informed NVIDIA about these DLSS 3 issues. To be honest, though, I’m not sure whether we’ll get a fix before the game’s launch. I mean, I’d love to be wrong here. However, it doesn’t seem likely.
Anyway, without the stutters, Diablo 4 runs with over 180fps at 4K/Max Settings with DLAA and DLSS 3 Frame Generation on our PC system. We also did not experience any major input latency issues. Thus, if you don’t own an AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPU, we recommend enabling it.
Stay tuned for more!
