Coffee Stain Studios has released Update 8 for Satisfactory on Experimental which upgrades the game’s engine to Unreal Engine 5.1. Alongside this game engine upgrade, Update 8 also brings numerous quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.
Regarding Unreal Engine 5, Satisfactory now uses World Partitioning, Chaos Physics, TSR, Lumen and Nanite.
Coffee Stain Studios has used Nanite only for Rocks, Cliffs and Conveyor items (at least for now). On the other hand, Lumen is disabled by default due to its high demand on the hardware. However, PC gamers can enable it via the in-game options.
It’s also worth noting that the developers have also improved the game’s visuals. Titan Forest and Red Jungle have received the most significant overhaul for their foliage, visual and sound effects, as well as lighting. Additionally, many areas have received more polish, those being the Abyss Cliffs, Rocky Desert, Eastern Dune Forest, Spire Coast, and some of the caves as well.
As always, Steam will download this update (if you’ve opted-in to its Experimental builds) the next time you launch its client.
Have fun!
