ARK: Survival Ascended has been delayed until October 2023

Studio Wildcard has announced that it will slightly delay the release of ARK: Survival Ascended, its upcoming remaster of the first ARK game in Unreal Engine 5. The team was originally planning to release this game in August 2023. However, it’s now scheduled for an October release.

Studio Wildcard claims that developing this game in Unreal Engine 5.2 appears to be quite challenging.

“We’ve found it challenging working with Unreal Engine 5.2, but at the same time, it is incredibly exciting. We’re discovering new ways each day to push the technology to the next level; combined with the work needed to support a fully cross-platform-moddable game ecosystem on consoles and PC, it’s clear that we’ll need a bit more time.”

What’s also interesting to note is that the developers will separate the release date of The Island and Scorched Earth. As such, the team will be now offering this upcoming remaster at a reduced price. So, basically, you’ll be able to now get it, when it hits Early Access, at $44.99 (with a launch-discount that will bring it to $39.99).

Studio Wildcard has also shared its roadmap. In December, it will release Scorched Earth. Then, in Q1 2024, the team plans to add Ragnarok and Aberration. And finally, the rest of the maps will be coming to Survival Ascended at a later date.

As we’ve already reported, ARK: Survival Ascended will be using UE5’s Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI. Thus, it will be interesting to compare these two versions. It will also be interesting to see the performance hit that these new effects will bring to the table.

Lastly, Studio Wildcard still plans to release ARK 2 at the end of 2024. So, this new delay for ARK: Survival Ascended has not impacted the development of its sequel. Or at least that’s what we can assume.

Stay tuned for more!
