NexusMods’ member ‘mysticalpresence’ has released a new mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 that adds 2K textures to all of its NPCs. Since this texture pack will improve the game’s graphics, we highly recommend downloading it.
Going into more details, this pack features improved textures for the hair, face, eyes, hands and torso of all NPCs. Generic NPCs were upscaled from 512×512 to 2048×2048. On the other hand, all the major cutscene NPCs were upscaled from 1024×1024 to 2048×2048.
Although the modder has not mentioned it, I’m pretty sure that he used AI tools in order to upscale the original textures. As such, these new enhanced textures retain the game’s original art style.
You can download these new 2K textures for Red Dead Redemption 2 from here. As the modder noted, this pack requires the Vulkan API (so make sure you’re using that one and not DX12).
Unfortunately, mysticalpresence has not shared any before/after comparison screenshots. However, I’ve included below a set of screenshots that showcase the new 2K NPC textures for Red Dead Redemption 2. From what I can see, there is a noticeable visual improvement. Or at least the NPCs didn’t look that sharp with the vanilla textures (if my memory serves me right).
Speaking of RDR 2, we also suggest downloading the following mods for it. So, for starters, there is this AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack that overhauls all weapons. In theory, this pack should be compatible with the 2K NPCs Texture Pack. Additionally, you can download a mod that adds an unofficial New Game+ Mode. Here is also a mod that overhauls the interior lighting of buildings. Let’s also not forget this HD pack that overhauls the terrain textures for the main story areas. And finally, this mod adds support for DLSS Ultra Quality & DLAA.
Have fun!
