Following the free DLSS 2/XeSS Mod for Starfield, PureDark released the DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod for it. This mod is only available to the modder’s Patrons and yes, it does have a DRM protection.
The DRM that the mod uses is similar to the one PureDark added to the DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod for Red Dead Redemption 2.
After becoming a Patron and downloading the mod from his Discord server, players will have to authenticate it. What’s crucial to note is that any account that has subscribed to PureDark’s Patreon will be able to pass the authentication procedure. In other words, the mod does not require an active membership. If you have subscribed and then unsubscribed from PureDark’s Patreon, you’ll still be able to pass authentication. Also, after your first authentication, the mod won’t ever ask you to re-authenticate it.
According to reports, Starfield is very heavy on older CPUs. Thus, owners of RTX 40 series GPUs may greatly benefit from this DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod. It would have been great if Starfield had native support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation. However, since this was an AMD-sponsored title, Bethesda decided to give the finger to all NVIDIA RTX 40 series owners. From the elevated black levels to the lack of HDR and an FOV slider, the PC version of Starfield feels a bit lackluster. Ironically, Starfield is not even among the upcoming games to use FSR 3.0.
For those wondering, an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is more than enough for 1440p/Ultra Settings. Even at 1080p/Ultra, we were mostly GPU-bound in our initial benchmarks. And that was with both an NVIDIA RTX 4090 and an AMD RX 7900XTX.
Speaking of Starfield Mods, I also suggest using this guide to improve the game’s FOV.
Lastly, I’ve heard reports that ReBAR could potentially improve performance on NVIDIA’s hardware. Since we’ve already seen some huge performance gains with ReBAR in Dead Space Remake, I’ll be sure to test it.
Stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
