Lies of P PC Performance Analysis

Lies of P is a new Souls-like game with visuals that are heavily inspired by Bloodborne. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, it’s time now to benchmark Lies of P and examine its performance on the PC platform.

For our Lies of P PC Performance Analysis, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, AMD’s Radeon RX580, RX Vega 64,  RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, NVIDIA’s GTX980Ti, RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080 and RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit, the GeForce 537.13 and the Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 drivers. Moreover, we’ve disabled the second CCD on our 7950X3D.

Round8 Studio has added a few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of Visibility, Anti-Aliasing, Textures, Shadows and more. The game also supports both AMD FSR 2.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 2. Unfortunately, though, the game does not support an Exclusive Fullscreen Mode (meaning that you can’t use a resolution higher than the one of your desktop. For downsampling, you’ll have to set your desktop at your desired resolution).

Lies of P does not feature any built-in benchmark tool. As such, for our GPU benchmarks, we used the Krat Central Station Plaza. This area appeared to be one of the most demanding ones, meaning that it can give us a pretty good idea of how the rest of the game runs.

Lies of P does not require a high-end CPU. At 1080p/Max Settings, our AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D was able to push over 300fps. When we simulated a dual-core CPU (with SMT/Hyper-Threading enabled), we were able to get a minimum of 211fps and an average of 227fps in our benchmark scene.

At 1080p/Max Settings, most of our GPUs were able to push framerates over 60fps. Hell, even our GTX980Ti was able to offer a smooth gaming experience. This is amazing news for those owning older graphics cards as they will be able to enjoy this new Souls-like game.

Lies of P GPU performance & benchmarks-1

At 1440p/Max Settings, our top five GPUs had no trouble running the game with over 60fps. As for Native 4K/Max Settings, our top four GPUs were able to provide a constant 60fps experience.

Graphics-wise, Lies of P looks amazing. As said, this new action RPG features visuals that are heavily inspired by Bloodborne. And, contrary to other Souls-like games, Round8 Studio has nailed it. Lies of P features some truly atmospheric environments. Aside from its great art style, the game also has detailed characters. Now I did notice some low-res textures here and there but for the most part, the game’s textures are pretty good. And, like other Souls-like games, it has numerous destructible objects. Additionally, and again like other Souls-like games, it has numerous invinsible walls. For the most part, I enjoyed the game’s graphics and I don’t expect anyone to complain about them.

All in all, Lies of P is one of the best optimized PC games of 2023. The game can run smoothly on a wide range of PC configurations, and it looks great. Moreover, while it uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech, we did not experience any performance or stuttering issues. Furthermore, the game will pre-compile its shaders the first time you launch it (meaning that you won’t get any shader compilation stutters). It’s really ironic. A lot of people have criticized Unreal Engine 4 but here we are with an UE4-powered game that performs extremely well on PC. So, kudos to Round8 Studio for delivering such a polished PC game!
