Yakuza: Like a Dragon was my GOTY in 2020. And although I didn’t mind its change from an action brawler to a turn-based strategy, I know that a lot of Yakuza fans were put off by this change. Well, good news if you were one of them as there is a mod that turns it into a classic Yakuza action game.
Like A Brawler turns Yakuza: Like a Dragon into a real-time combat action game. This will allow Ichiban Kasuga to fight in real-time. Ichiban will now be able to perform brand new heat actions and utilize multiple styles to efficiently strike down his enemies. This is a game-changer. And yes, I highly recommend trying it.
You can download the mod from this link. You can also find below a showcase video from it.
As you can see, with this mod, Yakuza: Like a Dragon now feels and plays similarly to the older Yakuza games. I’m honestly shocked at how good it looks. It’s incredible what the modder has achieved. And yes, I’m currently downloading this Yakuza game from Steam so I can replay it. So, even if you’ve finished it, you can try replaying the game with this mod.
I also hope that Jhrino will release a similar mod for Yakuza: Infinite Wealth. Similar to Like a Dragon, Yakuza: Infinite Wealth will have a turn-based combat system. So, having the option to play that game with both these combat modes will be fantastic.
All in all, this is the perfect Christmas gift for all Yakuza fans. Again, I’m shocked at how great Like a Dragon feels with this mod. Keep also in mind that Like A Brawler is in a beta phase. As such, you might encounter some bugs or glitches. Nevertheless, this is a must-have mod.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
