Rockfish Games has announced that the Spring Update for EVERSPACE 2 will upgrade the game to Unreal Engine 5. According to the team, this upgrade will help it future-proof the game so it has less difficulty bringing updates and expansion content to it.
For those wondering, no. Rockfish does not plan to add support for Nanite or Lumen. The devs claimed that their current solutions in-game already have better optimization than Nanite and Lumen. So, this upgrade is not for improving the game’s graphics.
EVERSPACE 2 is a fast-paced single-player spaceship shooter with exploration in space and on planets, tons of loot, RPG elements, mining, and crafting. Players can experience an exciting sci-fi story set in a vivid, handcrafted open world full of secrets, puzzles, and perils.
The game hit Steam in 2023, and has Very Positive Reviews. So, if you are a fan of this genre, you should definitely check it out. There is a 40% discount right now on Steam. Not only that but there is a demo you can download and play.
We had the chance to play the game’s prototype demo back in 2019. And even that prototype demo looked gorgeous. So, the fact that EVERSPACE 2 will not support Nanite or Lumen should not put you off. In theory, the game will run better than other UE5 games that use these techs.
Stay tuned for more!
