Remedy has just released Title Update 1.0.16.1 for Alan Wake 2. According to the devs, this latest patch optimizes rendering for GPUs that don’t support mesh shaders. As a result, the game’s lowered minimum GPU requirements are now the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT.
This patch should also slightly increase performance on GPUs that already support mesh shaders. According to Digital Foundry, the RTX 4070 sees a 14% performance increase. With Path Tracing enabled this performance boost drops to 6%. Still, this is good news for pretty much everyone. Let’s also not forget that Alan Wake 2 is one of the most advanced PC games. This game, alongside Cyberpunk 2077, supports Path Tracing for its lighting. And now that Remedy has fixed its visual issues, you can fully enjoy it.
Remedy has also shared the new, revised PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2 which you can find below.
And that is that. This patch does not bring any additional bug fixes or QoL improvements.
Finally, I recommend watching DF’s video about this update. Their video should give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it.
For instance, the NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti went from 28fps to 57fps in the forest area. That’s a massive 103% performance increase at 1080p/FSR2 balanced, and PS5 Performance Mode settings.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
