Cyan Worlds has just released an official gameplay trailer for its upcoming remake of Riven in Unreal Engine 5. This official remake will be similar to the Myst Remake, meaning that it will allow you to fully explore the game’s world.
According to the team, this version of Riven is designed to be both a homage to its roots and a leap into the future of interactive storytelling.
The game promises to have an unparalleled level of immersion, allowing players to truly feel part of the enigmatic D’ni Empire while exploring the decaying age of Riven. It will also come with new puzzles, expanded storylines, and breathtaking visuals.
I just hope that Riven will be – visually – more advanced than the Myst Remake. While the Myst Remake looked great, it suffered from some amateur-ish tech issues. For instance, the DLSS implementation wasn’t good and looked blurry. Then, the game only used Ray Tracing for reflections. In my opinion, Myst Remake would greatly benefit from RTGI and RTAO. So, let’s hope that Riven Remake will take full advantage of both Lumen and Nanite.
Finally, there is still no exact ETA on when the game will come out. Cyan Worlds claims that it will be released sometime in 2024.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
