It Takes Two does no longer require the EA Launcher on Steam

Electronic Arts and Hazelight have released a new update for the Steam version of It Takes Two that removes the requirement for the  EA Launcher. As such, Steam gamers will now be able to launch and play the game without having to run the EA Launcher.

Now while the game does no longer require the EA Launcher, it will still need an EA account to connect to the EA servers for online play. So, if you are interested in it and you still don’t have an EA account, you’ll have to create one.

Moreover, this patch allows players to send game invites and join their friends’ games directly through the Steam friends list. Not only that but the game is now Steam Deck Verified. There is also support for Steam Family Sharing.

It’s worth noting that there is cross-play support between the Steam and the EA App versions. So, if a friend of yours has the EA App version, you will be able to play with him/her. However, there is no cross-save support. Save games you have on your computer will automatically be uploaded to the Steam Cloud when you start the game. Your saves that were previously stored in the EA App Cloud, though, will no longer be accessible.

It Takes two is an adventure created purely for co-op. Players can invite a friend to join for free with Friend’s Pass and work together across a huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges.

As its description reads:

“Play as the clashing couple Cody and May, two humans turned into dolls by a magic spell. Together, trapped in a fantastical world where the unpredictable hides around every corner, they are reluctantly challenged with saving their fractured relationship.”

Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client.

Have fun!
