Warhorse Studios has confirmed at the Game Access event in Brno that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be locked at 30fps on consoles. Both PS5 and Xbox Series X won’t have a performance mode. As such, the only platform that will be able to run this upcoming RPG with 60fps will be the PC.
This isn’t the first current-gen only title that does not support 60fps on consoles. Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Hellblade 2 were also locked at 30fps. And, console games should realize that this trend will continue for the base models. My guess is that the PS5 Pro may be able to provide 60fps in games that are GPU-bound. In CPU-bound titles, though, a 30fps may be necessary even for it.
Warhorse Studios has also stated that the Xbox Series S has limited the game’s scope. According to the devs, the sequel will be 25% bigger than its predecessor. That percentage would be higher if it wasn’t for the Xbox Series S.
To be honest, I don’t really mind this. I personally don’t want massive empty open worlds with nothing to do in them. What I want is a world packed with NPCs and dynamic events, a world that can feel alive. Oh, and I want more physics and environmental interactivity. These are more important than a map area that is 70% bigger.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will come out on PC later this year, and it will be using CRYENGINE. Plus, the game will support both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, which should make it run faster. However, there’s no word yet on whether it’ll also support Frame Generation.
For what it’s worth, Warhorse has not yet shared the game’s PC requirements. However, last month, Daniel Vavra claimed that the NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super can run Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with 60fps at 4K/Very High Settings. So, this should give us a small idea of how the game runs on a high-end PC system.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
