Red Dead Redemption feature

PlayStation 4 emulator, shadPS4, can also boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered

A couple of days ago, we informed you about shadPS4 booting Turok and Bloodborne. And, from the looks of it, this upcoming PlayStation 4 emulator can also boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered.

Now as with Bloodborne, Red Dead Redemption Remastered is not playable. The game can boot and go to the main menu. Then it crashes. Moreover, it has major visual and audio issues. So, make sure to turn down the volume of your speakers.

From what I know so far, shadPS4 is the only PlayStation 4 emulator right now that can launch Red Dead Redemption Remastered. The other six PS4 emulators (psOfffpPS4SpineRPCSXKyty and GPCS4) do not seem capable of doing something like this.

As I said before, this is huge news for the PS4 emulation scene. The fact that the emulator can boot these 3D games is incredible. And I know, most of you won’t find this interesting. Still, I’m fascinated by what the shadPS4 team has managed to achieve in such a short time.

I’m also curious to see the next major release of shadPS4. Will its devs up their game? Will the emulator get additional major upgrades? Or will things slow down?

RDR came out for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in August 2023. Sadly, though, the remaster featured very minor graphical upgrades. So, in a way, it’s not that big of a deal. After all, we can already play the original RDR via Xenia at 4K with more than 60fps on high-end PC systems.

If you are still interested in the remaster, you can play the Nintendo Switch version via the Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx. Yes, the Switch version looks inferior to the PS4 version. However, there is a mod that allows you to play this version with your mouse.

Speaking of RDR Remastered, a rumor surfaced in May 2024, suggesting that Rockstar may finally release it on the PC. However, as of right now, the company has not shared any official plans for it.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
