Fun Dog Studios has announced that its co-op tactical survival horror shooter, The Forever Winter, will hit Steam Early Access on September 24th. To celebrate this announcement, the devs have also shared a new gameplay trailer that you can find below.
The first thing that caught my eye in The Forever Winter is its art style. This appears to be one of the best-looking Unreal Engine 5 games (in terms of art and design). So, I’m kind of looking forward to it.
In this game, you and your team have to search for stuff from the dead to stay alive while big war machines fight endlessly in the background. The devs claim that this won’t be like your typical looter shooter. The game will have two groups fighting each other, and you won’t be part of either. You’ll be just trying to survive in the chaos of war.
The Forever Winter will also feature a Dynamic Encounter system. Thanks to this system, enemies have their own goals and agendas. You’ll witness them operating in coordinated groups, and undertaking full-scale battles.
The game’s concept sounds interesting, and it will have some huge enemies fighting each other. And, since this is a PVE game, it will most likely appeal to a lot of players.
The Steam Early Access version will have four maps and one work-in-progress map. The game will have five characters, each with their own baggage and playstyles. Players will also be able to customize their arsenal with a wide selection of guns to choose from.
The devs have stated that there won’t be any paid to win solutions. This means that you will earn your gear via skill or luck. Moreover, they have stated that they’ll never charge for a new character, or for maps, guns, new quests, and bosses.
As said, this appears to be an interesting game. However, since this is an EA launch, it might suffer from some performance or optimization issues. So, make sure to keep that in mind. I’m saying this because a lot of players were disappointed by the performance of No Rest for the Wicked during its EA launch. So, again. Since this game will have some colossal enemies, it might also require a powerful PC system. You can find its preliminary PC requirements here.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
