Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 vs 2020 Graphics Comparison

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 featured truly next-gen graphics when it came out. Even to this date, this flight simulator looks amazing. And, believe it or not, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will look SIGNIFICANTLY better than it.

YouTube’s ‘ObsidianAnt’ has shared the following video that compares the 2020 version with the upcoming 2024 version. And, as you will see, MSFS 2024 almost looks like a next-gen title compared to MSFS 2020.

The devs claimed to have increased the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000. For instance, the ground will no longer be a mere heightfield. Instead, it will now have tiny stones, rocks, gravel and grass. Players can also expect better sky and atmospheric lighting, especially during sunrise and sunset. There will also be new cloud types like cirrus clouds which will better simulate the highest levels of our atmosphere. Not only that, but the game’s dynamic weather has also seen some improvements. As such, storms and other weather phenomena will now look much more realistic and impressive to fly through.

It has also been confirmed that the game will have Ray Tracing. Right now, we know that the devs will be using RT to enhance its shadows. So, here is a comparison between RT On (left) and RT Off (right).

We can go on and on about all the graphical improvements but words can be meaningless. Just watch the video. This is a huge visual improvement. So, kudos to the devs for making one of the best-looking PC games even better.

Moreover, Microsoft has shared the game’s official PC requirements. According to them, PC gamers will at least need an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K with 16GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or an NVIDIA GTX 970. MS recommends using an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-10700K CPU with 32GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon 5700 XT or Nvidia RTX 2080. You’ll also need 10Mbps or 50Mbps for an Internet connection.

Finally, we have the “Ideal” PC specs. These should provide the best experience, though we don’t know the resolution, framerates and graphics settings they have. According to them, you’ll need an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i7-14700K with 64GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT or an NVIDIA RTX 4080.

Microsoft will release MSFS 2024 on November 19th.

Enjoy!
