Fallout Vault 13 Remake

The Fallout 1 Fan Remake for Fallout 4 has been canceled

In August 2024, we shared a demo for a remake of the first Fallout game in Fallout 4. Sadly, though, the team behind it has decided to stop its development. In other words, Fallout: Vault 13 has been canceled, with no plans to release anything new for it.

The decision to cancel this Fallout 1 Remake for Fallout 4 had nothing to do with Bethesda. The company did not send the modding team any C&D letter. Instead, the team felt the burn of the development, and could not go on. It also had a lot of difficulty hiring new members.

In short, these are the exact same issues that a lot of modding teams face when developing big projects. That’s why we always encourage modders to focus on smaller mods. Hell, even Black Mesa was a victim of this. Yes, it’s cool to announce something as big as remaking an older RPG. However, it takes A LOT of effort and work in order to achieve something like that.

And that is that. Fallout: Vault 13 is no more. But hey, at least they released a demo of it. This is more than what other modding teams have done in the past. So, kudos at least for releasing a demo. And yes, I highly recommend giving it a go, especially if you are a Fallout fan.

If you are into Fallout 4, you might also want to check out these other mods for it. For instance, there is a LOD mod that reduces distant objects/shadows/textures pop-ins. Then we have the Disk Cache Enabler Mod. There’s also a mod that adds ragdoll physics and collisions to dead bodies. Another amazing mod is this one that fixes the game’s long loading times. DirectHit is a mod that overhauls the AI of enemies. And let’s not forget this mod that adds real locational damage to all enemies. We also have this mod that adds to the game 10 driveable cars/vehicles with Havok physics, as well as this Enhanced Movement Mod.

To improve the graphics or performance, you can use the following mods. For instance, there are various HD texture packs. You can either download this 8K Texture Pack or this 41GB 4K Texture Pack which optimizes all 40,962 textures. There’s also a mod that improves the faces of over 1450 NPCs. Finally, there is a mod that adds support for NVIDIA DLSS 2, AMD FSR 2 and Intel XeSS. Oh, and there’s a mod that adds AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation to the game.

Let’s also not forget the DLC-sized expansion mods that you can get for F4. Fallout New Vegas Remake in Fallout 4 is an unreleased mod that we’re really looking forward to. Then we have Fallout: MiamiAmerica Rising 2 is another fan DLC/expansion mod that integrated the Enclave faction into the main story with 24 main quests. Caves Of The Commonwealth is another fan expansion that adds 2-5 hours of new gameplay content. Let’s also not forget Fallout London which looks promising. You can also download Sim Settlements 2 – Chapter 3Whispering Hills which is a cool Silent Hill mod, and The Wilderness Mod. You can also download a new horror quest mod that is inspired by Lovecraft, Resident Evil and Dead Space. Last month, we also shared another quest mod for it. Oh, and the Mass Effect Evolution Mod is once again available for download.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
