For those unaware, Silent Hill 2 Remake has a secret puzzle. During the whole game, James collects some photos. At first, these photos seem like simple collectibles. However, they have a hidden message that only a few people have figured out. That message also hints at a cool theory about SH2.
To solve the puzzle, you’ll have to count things within each photo (example, the open windows in photo 1 = 6), and then count that number across the writing on each one. If you do this, you will get a letter. And then, once you collect all photos, you’ll get the following message.
“Youvebeenherefortwodecades”
Now what’s cool here is that Bloober Team’s Creative Director and Lead Designer, Mateusz Lenart, has confirmed this secret message.
This basically means that James has been stuck in Silent Hill for 20 years. This is a pretty cool twist as a lot of people believed that James had just arrived in Silent Hill.
There is a theory suggesting that James is stuck in a time loop in Silent Hill. And, if this message is anything to go by, James has been reliving everything for the past twenty years.
Again, this is a cool twist. And, to be honest, I really miss these secret messages in video-games. Hell, I even miss the mature concept of Silent Hill 2. You won’t get anything like that story in modern games.
Speaking of Silent Hill 2, Bloober Team has released an update that slightly reduces traversal stutters. That patch also added support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation. However, there is still no support for AMD 3.0 Frame Generation. Thankfully, though, you can enable it by using this guide.
There are also some cool mods you can download for it. For instance, you can enable NVIDIA Ray Reconstruction for better visuals. You can also remove the 30fps cap from the in-engine cutscenes. Then we have this cool mod that removes the fake “hero” light from James and Maria. Another mod completely removes the game’s iconic fog. Lastly, you can download two mods to improve the 3D models of Angela and Maria.
Finally, be sure to read our PC Performance Analysis.
Stay tuned for more!
🤭 I knew it wouldn’t stay hidden for long! (There was a theory in our company that the puzzle might be too hard 😜) I really wanted to make it subtle when I was painting those photos…
I think the timing couldn’t be better for you to solve it.
Congratulations!… pic.twitter.com/EiIyg35Caj— Mateusz Lenart (@Mateusz_Lenart_) November 3, 2024
