KT Racing announced that the second major update for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will come out tomorrow, and shared its full patch notes. This update promises to bring a lot of improvements. So, let’s take a look at it.
According to the devs, Patch #2 will improve game stability. Moreover, it will enhance the game’s graphics and performance. As such, you should now expect higher framerates.
Going into more details, the update reduces the shadow cost in performance. It also adds various optimizations to improve memory consumption. Not only that but it improves global illumination and octree tracing performance. Plus, it improves the shadow quality created by headlights, as well as the quality of SSR.
As said, this second update packs around 40 bug fixes. So, for instance, it fixes cases where NPCs could be run through. It also fixes fences sometimes not having collisions, as well as an issue where cars could change color depending on the distance. Furthermore, it fixes two softlocks. The first could occur when opening the map at the same time than various menus, whereas the second could occur when pausing and accelerating at the same time during cutscenes with Vivian.
It’s also worth noting that this patch improves overall wheel compatibility. For example, it fixes binding and default preset on Thrustmaster TMX wheel. It also fixes Logitech G923 default binding, and Moza devices default preset.
It will be interesting to see whether the game will run better now than its launch version. As I wrote in my PC Performance Analysis, the game desperately needed some optimization improvements. It made no sense for this game to not hit 60fps at 4K on an NVIDIA RTX 4090.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.
