Earlier this week, we informed you about the next version of Intel XeSS, XeSS 2. XeSS 2 will feature Intel XeSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Xe Low Latency. And, from the looks of it, their DLL files have been leaked online.
What this means is that modders may be able to replace NVIDIA DLSS 3 with Intel XeSS 2. We’ve seen similar mods for games that replaced DLSS 3 with FSR 3.0. So, in theory, this should be possible.
The only downside here is that only Intel Arc GPUs support Intel XeSS2. Contrary to Intel XeSS Super Resolution which was available to all vendors, Intel XeSS Frame Generation and Intel XeLL will only work on the Alchemist and Battlemage GPUs.
So, in a way, this is a nothing-burger for a lot of gamers. The only ones who will benefit from Intel XeSS 2 Mods are those who have Intel Arc GPUs. And, according to Steam’s database, this number is really low.
Intel will officially release the Arc B580 on December 13th. The B580 will come with 12GB of GDDR6 across a 192-bit memory bus. The GPU will boost up to 2.67GHz, it will require 190W of power, and it will be priced at $249.
According to some early first-party benchmarks, this GPU will be more powerful than the NVIDIA RTX 4060. That’s in both Raster and Ray Tracing. It will also have more VRAM than NVIDIA’s GPU. So, in a way, this may become a sleeper hit. Well, that is unless NVIDIA launches the RTX 5060 at a competitive price.
You can go ahead and download the DLL files for Intel XeSS 2 from this link. Right now, you might be able to replace the DLL files of Intel XeSS Super Resolution in games that already support it. This may resolve some visual issues with Intel XeSS SR.
Stay tuned for more!
