Stardock announced that those who pre-order their upcoming 4X strategy game, Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, will gain access to its on-going BETA phase. The game is priced at $39.95 for new players and at $29.95 for those who had purchased War of Magic in 2011. On the other hand, those who registered War of Magic in 2010 will get Fallen Enchantress for free. Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is a stand-alone game that takes place in the same world of Elemental: War of Magic.
The development team plans to release a BETA 3 this Spring, and in Summer they expect to release BETA 4. During Beta 4 they’ll evaluate where things stand. Naturally, the final product will be quite a bit different from these beta versions.
After the sale of Impulse, developers who had previously worked on Galactic Civilizations II were brought back from the Impulse team to the Games group to work on Fallen Enchantress. The team is led by Derek Paxton (Kael) who had previously worked on the Civilization IV mod, Fall from Heaven and as previously mentioned the campaign was designed by Jon Shafer formerly of Civilization V fame.
Last but not least, the team promised to release a trailer for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress pretty soon!
John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
