A couple of days ago, we informed you about the registration of Final Fantasy VII’s domain, FinalFantasyViiPC.com. As we said back then, Square Enix was probably gearing up for a digital re-release of Final Fantasy VII on both GOG and Steam. And it seems that we were right, as a leaked product description has revealed this new digital version.
The following product description was – initially – available on FinalFantasyViiPC.com. However, Square Enix decided to remove it but we have a screenshot from it (thanks to Good Old Games’ user ‘real.geizterfahr’ ). As we can see, the Steam version of Final Fantasy VII will feature achievements and cloud saves, and will be priced at $9.99 USD.
In case you’re wondering then no, there won’t be any significant changes to the game’s visuals. Our guess is that there will be support for higher resolutions than those that were available on its retail version, but apart from that – and the various tweaks to make it playable on Windows XP, Vista, 7 systems – there won’t be any enhancements at all.
Stay tuned for more!
