THREAKS was kind enough to provide us with a key for the preview build of Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians, meaning that you can find below our 20-minute video walkthrough. Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians is a game that aims to implement the innovative idea of enabling a player to experience a music song within an action-adventure level.
In Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians, players take an epic journey through the land of Symphonia, a world saturated with music, in which they control the mystical creature known as Beatbuddy as he fights to save his beloved homeland. Players can interact with six unique environments to unfold the songs they contain.
Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians has simple, yet effective mechanics. As with most indie platformers, players will have to solve some puzzles in order to proceed to the next checkpoint (and eventually to the end of each level).
Beatbuddy looks colorful and beautiful (at least for an indie title). The game’s aesthetics somehow reminded us of Donkey Kong’s sea levels, something that is – obviously – a good thing. Yes, Beatbuddy has that retro look that makes it look lovely. And contrary to other indie titles, we enjoyed our first contact with it.
Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians is currently planned for an August 6th release on PC, Linux and Mac.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
