Now here is something really interesting. According to the game’s executive producer, Mark Rubin, the PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature higher resolution textures than those of next-gen console versions. One can only wonder why is this happening, since almost everyone has been praising PS4’s 8GB of GDDR5. Did Infinity Ward hit a limitation or something? Or is this just some PR-thing to get PC gamers excited?
As Rubin told Kotaku when asked about the game’s textures:
“They’re actually using an even higher version in many cases than the next-gen consoles, from a texture standpoint.”
Rubin has also admitted that Call of Duty: Ghosts won’t be a mere port, that the PC has its own set of assets this time around, and that it’s ‘going to look better than any Call of Duty we’ve ever made on PC.’
Here is an older tech video of Call of Duty: Ghosts, showcasing some of the techniques that will be used in it.
All that remains now is to see whether Rubin was right or wrong. And we’ll most probably find out the moment the game gets out.
Until then, enjoy the video!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
