The winners of the gamescom award 2011 have been determined. At the launch of this year’s gamescom trade fair, the independent expert jury from the field of publishing and media designated the best products. Battlefield 3 (Electronic Arts) was unanimously elected the “Best of gamescom 2011”.
The “Best PC Game” is Diablo III from Blizzard Entertainment. Star Wars: The Old Republic (Electronic Arts) is the winner of the “Online Games” category. The award for the “Best Mobile Game” went to Sony Computer Entertainment for its Uncharted: Golden Abyss, while The Sims Social (Electronic Arts) excelled as the “Best Browser Game”. PlayStation Vita from Sony Computer Entertainment beat the other nominees in the “Hardware Accessories” category. The “Best of Family Entertainment” award was given to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for its game Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster.
The gamescom award boasts a unique place in the international games industry. This year, the gamescom awards were presented and bestowed at a more international scale. The best products of the gamescom trade fair were already awarded by the expert jury of national and international media, press, and trade representatives during the official opening. This year’s gamescom awards comprised a total of eight categories: Best PC Game, Best Console Game, Best Mobile Game, Best Online Game, Best Browser Game, Best Family Game, Best Hardware/Hardware Accessories, and Best of gamescom (selected by the jury from all categories).
