Let the VR war begin. Sony announced yesterday its own VR device and Oculus announced today the second version of its development kit. According to the development team, this new version of Oculus Rift will be based on the Cristal Cove model and will have a more polished external look.
Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 comes with 1920*1080p AMOLED and an external camera. Its tracking LEDs are hidden into the headset surface and the kit will support 60Hz, 72Hz and 75Hz refresh rates.
Unfortunately, the consumer version is not planned for a 2014 release but the development kit will be launched around July.
Those interested can pre-order it from Oculus’s website (and there will be a ‘first come, first served’ policy).
Enjoy!
