Our dear friends over at PCGamesHardware have posted some interesting benchmarks for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha. According to the graphs, Lost Alpha brings high-end GPUs to their knees as even the most powerful single-GPU is unable to maintain 60fps at 1080p with max settings.
Not only that, but Lost Alpha is – like pretty much all STALKER titles – single-CPU threaded, meaning that quad-cores are not being used to their fullest. To be honest, we did not expect an indie team to overhaul the game’s CPU utilization, but still this may be one of the reasons why the game underperforms.
For what is worth, Lost Alpha is a good looking game. The team has managed to keep the amazing atmosphere of STALKER, and everything looks so beautiful. It’s amazing what a modding team has achieved, so kudos to them.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
