If there’s one thing we hate, it is witnessing a game capped at 30fps. Some companies removed that cap via a patch, like Codies did for Overlord, while others simple didn’t give a damn about PC gamers’ opinions and suggestions. Thankfully, the community has managed most of the times to find workarounds, as some modders have managed to remove the cap from both Transformers: War For Cybetron and The Force Unleashed 1 & 2.
And now it’s time for McGee’s latest game, Alice: Madness Returns. Although the game is capped at 30fps, there is an easy way to remove it. All you have to do is to find and edit the “AliceEngine.ini” file which is located inside ‘My Documents/ My Games/ Alice Madness Returns/ AliceGame/ Config’. When you find it, open it and make the following changes:
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=31
change it to
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60if you have 120Hz monitors, change it to
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120
And there you have it. Enjoy the smoothness of 120fps.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
