Hitman’s closed alpha testing is currently under way and it appears that the game has major performance issues. Of course we should not judge the end product by an alpha build, however a Titan X seems unable to maintain constant 60fps at 1080p with all settings at Ultra.
Going into more details, a Titan X seems able to run the game with 35-45fps. Now some of you may be wondering whether this awful performance is caused by a CPU limitation. YouTube’s ‘polaric90’ did not reveal the CPU he was using, so this could very well be the case.
On the other hand, YouTube’s member ‘DavideLolli97’ tested the closed alpha build of Hitman with a GTX970 and an Intel i5 4690K. Intel’s i5 4690K is a quad-core CPU and Hitman was running with almost 30fps on that particular system.
The game features a lot of NPCs so this needs to be properly optimized in the later builds, however as it stands, Hitman’s closed alpha build has major performance issues.
This is something that is further strengthened by the fact that a GTX970 can run this closed alpha build with 40-45fps when an Intel i7 CPU is being used. YouTube’s member ‘Computatrum’ has shared a video showing Hitman running on a Intel i7 4790k with an NVIDIA GTX970, and the results were increased by 10-15fps (compared to DavideLolli97’s results).
Of course, do note that this is an alpha build. And we’ll say it one more time; this performance does not reflect the one of the final build. Still, it’s interesting to see how this particular build runs on both medium and high-end GPUs.
Our guess is that the final game will run better than that. Or at least that’s what we hope!
