Each and every month, Steam conducts a survey to collect data about what kinds of computer hardware and software its customers are using. And according to the July survey, Microsoft’s Windows 10 64bit is the most popular OS. Furthermore, NVIDIA and Intel are have – once again – slightly increased their dominance.
As we can see, 56.98% of Steam users are using an NVIDIA GPU, while 24.68% are using an AMD/ATI GPU. Moreover 17.89% of Steam users are using an Intel integrated GPU. Compared to June’s numbers, NVIDIA got a 0.27% increase and AMD saw a 0.47% decrease.
Moving on to the CPU side, 77.25% of the survey-takers prefer Intel’s CPUs, while 22.75% prefer AMD’s CPUs. In other words, Intel saw a 0.08% increase and AMD saw a similar decrease.
Regarding the CPU cores that Steam-survey takers use, 47.44% of them own a dual-core CPU, while 45.98% own a quad-core CPU. Only 4.49% has a CPU with more than four CPU cores, and 2.09% is still on a single-core CPU.
Last but not least, Windows 10 remains the most popular OS with 44.93% (increased by 1.99% compared to last month).

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
