PC gaming appears to be thriving. According to SuperData Research, PC gaming was the second strongest market in 2016, earning a total of $35.8bn between January & November. Mobile gaming was the strongest market and console gaming was the third strongest market.
As SuperData Research claimed, PC gaming is growing by 6.7 per cent year-on-year. This figure includes social, free-to-play, subscription and premium PC games.
League of Legends and Overwatch drove PC sales. PC gamers also saw a big improvement with the release of a new generation of graphics cards, offering a 40% increase in graphics power and a 20% reduction of power consumption.
This basically proves that PC gaming is one of the most crucial and important markets. But then again… we are pretty sure that most of you already knew about it.
John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
