In order to celebrate Diablo’s 20th anniversary, Blizzard released a new massive update for Diablo III. This update adds support for the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) SDK and Razer peripherals, and a screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) pixel shader option, improves support for 60Hz+ monitors, and adds a 64-bit client as default for 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems.
According to the release notes, players should see improvements to system performance and faster loading times thanks to this 64-bit client. In addition, this new client uses DirectX 11 natively, which brings support for normal maps, per pixel lighting and improved anti-aliasing options.
What’s also interesting here is that this new patch for Diablo III adds a new free event, in which Blizzard basically recreated the entire first Diablo game using Diablo III’s assets. And yes, the secret cow level is included in this free event.
This event features all the 16 levels from the first Diablo game, as well as four main bosses and a special graphics filter that will make the graphics look “old-ish”, and will be available only in January.
