Modder ‘Kaldaien’ has implemented DrDaxxy’s Global Illumination performance tweaks into his FAR (Fix Automata Resolution) mod for NieR: Automata. Kaldaien has provided two versions and those who download the Automatic version will have to make sure to migrate to the “Testing” branch.
Once this mod has been installed, PC gamers can press Ctrl+Shift+Backspace to bring up the settings and reduce the values for Global Illumination.
In order to make these changes permanent, PC gamers can browse to the game directory, open FAR.ini with notepad and change the value to whatever you want for Global Illumination (do note that this value requires multiples of 16).
Those interested can download the mod from here.
According to a lot of reports, this mod has significantly improved performance (at the cost of less complex and less accurate Global Illumination solution), so be sure to download it if you’re experiencing performance issues with it.
Have fun!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
