Sony has just released Ghost of Tsushima on the PC. The game is powered by Sucker Punch’s in-house engine, and it was ported on PC by Nixxes. From what we’ve seen, this appears to be a simple port of the PS4 version. So, can an NVIDIA RTX 4090 run this latest game at Native 4K/Max Settings with 60fps? Let’s find out.
For our initial benchmarks, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 552.22 driver. This isn’t the latest driver which is optimized for this title. Moreover, I’ve disabled the second CCD on our 7950X3D.
At Native 4K/Max Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 4090 was able to push around 84fps on average. That’s in the first few areas (up to the point you visit Castle Kaneda). The lowest I’ve seen was 71fps. Again, that’s Native 4K with Max Settings. The game supports both DLSS 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation. So, even without DLSS 3 FG, it should be possible to get constant 60fps at 4K/Max Settings with DLAA. DLAA can noticeably improve the visuals (compared to the game’s default TAA), so make sure to use it if you can.
During the first hour, I did not experience any stuttering issues. As with Horizon: Forbidden West, Nixxes has done a terrific job here. So, rest assured that you won’t get any stutters during your playthrough.
All in all, it appears that Ghost of Tsushima is a really polished game on PC. Truth be told, the game does not look as good as Horizon: Forbidden West. So, the performance/visuals ratio is not as good as the one in HFW. Still, this is a game that should run well on various PC systems.
