Top 10 PC Optimized Games of 2012

2012
It’s that time of year again. 2013 is almost upon us and promises to be a great year. Well, that is if the Mayan prediction was not accurate enough and the world doesn’t end tomorrow (though we all know that we’ll be just fine and nothing ‘bad’ will happen). So, our dear readers, we’re presenting you our Top10 most optimized PC games of 2012. Before starting, let us tell you that our Top10 is based on those games’ performance under DX9 and DX10. DX11 did not take off in 2012, and that’s why we did not focus on it. However, our GTX690 will serve us well in 2013, so rest assured that our upcoming Performance Analyses will also cover this API. Speculating on The Phantom Pain – PC version, connection with MGS V, Psycho Mantis, Hidden Messages

It’s been one hell of a week so far for Metal Gear Solid fans. I mean, everyone was expecting to hear or see something about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes at this year’s VGAs and then, out of nowhere, Moby Dick Studios emerged with some footage from an unannounced game that looked so similar to what Kojima showcased a couple of months ago. Same lighting effects, same engine, same protagonist. Could this be a coincidence? Continue reading Speculating on The Phantom Pain – PC version, connection with MGS V, Psycho Mantis, Hidden Messages

Grand Theft Auto V’s Release Date Further Proves That Analysts Are Not Needed In Gaming Industry

As we’ve said in the past, we strongly believe that analysts should simply stop spreading rumors (and gaming sites should stop paying attention to them). You see, most of the times those analysts are speculating without any hard evidence, something that… well… pretty much everyone can do. So why in the world would someone take an analyst’s word over something, when most of them have failed to deliver? Ironic, isn’t it? What’s even more ironic is that this article is based on those analysts (and some of you could say “Hey dude, why do you bother if you believe that they don’t deserve our attention?“). Well the answer is simple; because we love the truth and because time is the greatest judge of all. Oh, and to prove our claim that analysts are not needed in the gaming industry. id Software, Doom 3 BFG Edition and how the mighty has fallen in the eyes of PC gamers

Man, things are not looking good for the relationship between id Software and PC gamers. It’s ironic, but the company fromTexas was once upon a time THE PC developer. Fast forward a couple of years and here we are today with id Software dropping on the ball on yet another PC game. Doom 3: BFG was released a couple of days ago and let us tell you that it is worse (when it comes to its tech) than the eight year old game that was offered by the very same studio. It’s ironic, but the id you knew is dead and won’t come back anytime soon. Continue reading id Software, Doom 3 BFG Edition and how the mighty has fallen in the eyes of PC gamers

In Ubisoft’s defense – Modern ‘$60’ games are already taking advantage of the F2P model

Ah, good old Ubisoft. A company that was well known for its amazing franchises, is now only a shadow of its former self. Back in August, the French company revealed that it will be focusing its efforts on the F2P model for its PC franchises. And although we are against it, we can acknowledge and respect its decision. During an investor conference call, that took place a couple of days ago, Ubisoft further explained its decision to move on to this model and claimed that this model could also benefit full priced triple-A games. Naturally, a lot of people were quick enough to jump on the “oh_my_God_I_hate_you_Ubisoft” bandwagon, but wait a minute… this is something that most companies are doing these days so why should we point our gun at only Ubisoft? Are fans to be blamed for BioWare’s Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk resignations? We think not

Two weeks ago, we wondered whether EA was to be blamed for the resignation of BioWare’s founders, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk. Interestingly enough, today NowGamer has unveiled an interview in which Trent Oster suggested that the negative fan reaction to Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic were things that pushed Ray and Greg into leaving the gaming industry. However, should we really blame the fans or was that an excuse for both Ray and Greg? Continue reading Are fans to be blamed for BioWare’s Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk resignations? We think not

Is EA to be blamed for BioWare’s poor image and the resignation of its co-founders?

The whole gaming industry was shocked a couple of hours ago, when BioWare announced that its co-founders were leaving the company. The reason behind Ray Muzyka’s resignation was as typical as ever. Ray stated that he wanted to move on to pursue an entirely different set of challenges. What really striked us, though, was  Greg Zeschuk excuse. Greg said that he reached an unexpected point in his life where he no longer has the passion that he once did for the company, for the games, and for the challenge of creation. Was BioWare’s acquisition something that made Greg lost his desire and passion for games and his own company? Continue reading Is EA to be blamed for BioWare’s poor image and the resignation of its co-founders?
